Art Village Gallery: Annual Themed Exhibitions

Art Village Gallery is pleased to invite emerging and established artists to submit work for consideration to these upcoming exhibits. Selected artist will show at one of the Art Village Gallery exhibition spaces.

Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 5pm

Receptions take place from 6:30pm – 8:30pm


Group Exhibition – Out of Africa

Description: This annual exhibition, in celebration of Black History Month is open to all African artists and those of African descent (African American, Afro-Latin, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Caribbean etc.). Celebrating the wide umbrella of “African,” these contemporary works of art will explore commonalities of the black experience and highlight the talent, stories and perspectives of established artists.

Exhibition Dates: Thursday, January 25 – Saturday, February 17, 2018

Group Exhibition – Nevertheless, She Persisted


Description: March is International Women’s History Month. This annual exhibition is open to local, national and international female artists only, and aims to call attention to gender inequality in the arts. The 2018 theme is Nevertheless, She Persisted, which recognizes the intersecting forms of discrimination women have faced and continue to face throughout history.


Exhibition Dates: Thursday, February 22 – March 23, 2018

Group Exhibition – MLK50: Beyond the Balcony (Juried)


Description: (1968-2018) April 4, 2018 marks 50 years since Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was killed and his lifeless body lay on the balcony outside his motel room. Beyond the Balcony will feature works by artists of multi-racial and multi-cultural backgrounds who unite to examine solutions to social, political and economic injustices. Artists are challenged to create artwork that explores the importance of motivating and activating positive change that will answer the question “where do we go from here”; artists should also offer conceptual and formal dialogue on the building of public will and policy change that corrects injustice.  Each artist has a unique opportunity to contribute to the ongoing social and political discussion by using art as a platform to inform and influence the perspective of others.

Group Exhibition – South Central: Latin American Fine Art Exhibition


Description: In celebration of Latin and Hispanic culture, Art Village Gallery is planning an exciting exhibition presenting the work of talented contemporary Latin artists.


Exhibition Dates: Thursday, September 28 – October 14, 2018

Reception: Friday, September 29, 2018
